Sessler Wrecking has revealed footage of its recent demolition of the Massena East Paste Plant in Massena, New York, which included the dismantling of several buildings.
Believed to be the world’s longest continuously operating smelter, with aluminum production beginning in 1902, the Massena East Paste Plant is part of the Massena Operations facility owned and operated by metals producer Alcoa.
Sessler’s work to dismantle the facility involved the use of specialised equipment, such as the CAT 390 Ultra-High Reach excavator, to handle the demolition of structures reaching up to 165 ft in height.
The team was responsible for utility isolation, asbestos removal, and the demolition of buildings 722, 722J, and 722K.
In addition, Sessler Wrecking managed the safe removal of carbon dust equipment, water disposal, and site cleanup.
