21 August 2024
Sany Group has released its first medium-sized electric excavator to be marketed outside of China.
Described as a “pure electric machine” designed specifically for European construction sector contractors, the new SY215E has an operating weight of 23.3 tonnes, and offers a maximum digging height of 9,600 mm and a maximum digging depth of 6,255 mm.
The electric model features a 422-kWh battery with lifespan of five to seven years, that Sany claims offers cost-savings of “approximately €21,560 annually compared to traditional excavators”.
According to the manufacturer, the battery can be fully recharged in just 70 minutes, using its dual-gun fast charge system.
Other key features of the ST215E include the OEM’s new C12 operator cab, which is equipped with a large HD touchscreen.
Technology-wise, the machine offers “intelligent fault self-diagnosis” and online operating system upgrades for easy use.
The new excavator, which is available with 600 mm, 700 mm, 800 mm, and 900 mm tracks, was launched at a special event in the Netherlands in collaboration with local dealer DNL Machine & Equipment.
Roughly 250 customers attend the occasion, along with over ten of the machine’s component suppliers, including the team from Leica Germany.
