Cat launches Stage V material handlers

Cat has launched two new Stage V compliant material handlers onto the North American, European, Australian and New Zealand construction equipment markets.

Cat MH3024 material handler The Cat MH3024 weighs 22.7 t and is the successor to the Cat MH3024F model.

The Cat MH3022 and MH3024 have operating weights of 21.2 and 22.7 t respectively.

They are part of the company’s Next Generation equipment line and are primarily suited to waste and scrap metal handling.

Upgrades of the Cat MH3022F and MH3024F material handlers, the new machines are fitted with the Cat C4.4 engine and can be run on either petroleum diesel or B20 biodiesel (20% biodiesel and 80% petroleum diesel).

Unlike their predecessors, the MH3022 and MH3024 feature the manufacturer’s new Next Generation cabs, which come in either a Deluxe and Premium design.

According to Cat, the cabs include a joystick steering option the improves visibility and increases legroom by eliminating the steering column.

Cat MH3024 material handler The Cat MH3022 includes the cab avoidance system, which helps stop the attachment hitting the cab.

They have also been integrated with the new Operator ID system, which means operators must enter their PIN code to start the engine.

In addition to preventing unauthorised use, Cat said, “Different machine operators can store their specific joystick and preferred power mode settings, and the machine automatically recalls the settings based on the Operator ID.”

The Cat MH3022 and MH3024 also now include a new cab avoidance system. This is said to help operators prevent the attachment from coming into contact with the cab.

Cat added, “Heavy lift mode for both models boosts lifting capacities to more efficiently handle heavy loads.

“Allowing the boom to freely travel up and down without using pump flow, the standard SmartBoom allows the operator to focus on grapple control and have a smoother cycle.”

While the new MH3022 model includes a 12% wider, stabilized footprint for improved operating stability and performance when lifting at extended reach, the MH3024 provides up to 7% greater swing torque, which allows it to more material faster.

Other major structural changes to the machines include larger tempered glass, right-side and rearview cameras and “thicker, high-impact and impact-resistant windshields” for improved visibility and safety.
