22 September 2026
Meet the speakers who will tell the story behind ICC-Commonwealth’s three-and-a-half-year project to dismantle the deteriorating flue liner inside the second tallest free-standing chimney in the world.

Known as the Sudbury Superstack, this was once Canada’s tallest chimney and the country’s second tallest structure.
The work involved removing a 381-metre (1,250-ft) steel liner weighing more than 2,000 tonnes, along with its supporting steelwork, all housed inside the 53-year-old concrete chimney structure.
Using real project examples, the presenters will explore innovative dismantling methods, heavy-lift operations and risk management strategies relevant to aging industrial infrastructure worldwide.
