Portuguese construction company Restradas has demolished the site of an old bullring near the city of Lisbon, Portugal, using an Epiroc’s hydraulic breaker.

The company used Epiroc’s HB 3100 hydraulic breaker instead of blast methods to demolish the Praça de Touros, due to its close proximity to residential buildings.

Restradas used an Epiroc’s 3,000 kg (6,660 lb) breaker model, featuring ContiLube II and Intelligent Protection System, with a 36 t excavator to carry the work.

According to Epiroc Portugal, Restradas chose the model for its durability and Dust Protector system. The German manufacturer said it was ideally suited for the demolition of extremely resistant stone, such as the limestone found near Lisbon.

Over 100,000 cu m (3.5 million sq ft) of hard limestone was demolished by Restradas using attachment, which used it to excavate a 12 m  (39 ft) deep construction pit for the development of the site.

The bullring was demolished to make way for a new luxury residential development.
