D&Ri recently announced the shortlists for the World Demolition Awards, which will take place on Wednesday 18 October in Toronto, Canada, as part of the World Demolition Summit.
Congratulations to the following companies who made the Innovation: Plant and Equipment shortlist.
World Demolition Awards 2023 - Innovation: Plant & Equipment
Bosstek
PRODUCT: DustBoss DB-60 Surge
The DustBoss DB-60 Surge has been engineered with a new and adjustable high-pressure centre nozzle, giving operators more control over the dust-trapping water plume.
The Surge is built to deliver multi-step, variable flow dust control. With a range of 200 ft (60 m), the single centre nozzle allows users to fight wind or pinpoint a long-reach target for precise dust suppression right at the point of emission, while minimising clogging and maintenance.
Caterpillar
PRODUCT: 352 Straight Boom Hydraulic Excavator
Caterpillar’s 352 SB is purpose built from the ground up for one industry only: demolition. This machine comes demolition ready from the factory and can be put right to work with no need for expensive modifications or additions.
The model allows for more reach with heavier work tool weights allowed than a standard earthmoving excavator. The 352 SB is described as a perfect machine for three-to-five-storey demolition projects and in some cases eliminates the need for a larger excavator or high reach machine.
The 352 SB can reach up to 12.85 m (42 ft, 2 in) at the stick pin and handle a work tool weighing up to 6 t (13,000 lbs).
Despe
PRODUCT: CAT 6015B Jumbo Demolition Excavator
The design of the CAT 6015B Demolition Excavator is the result of a blend of technology and advanced hydraulics.
A special machine with a maximum gross weight of 351 t, the “Jumbo” was designed and built by a highly specialised engineering team in just over a year, with 3,000 hours of design work put into it.
The basic machine on which the Jumbo is based is the Caterpillar 6015 excavator model, which has undergone significant modifications to transform it into a demolition machine with maximum operating efficiency on the construction site.
Dragon Equipment
PRODUCT: CR400 Crusher
Following the success of the popular CR300 Micro Crusher, Dragon Equipment has launched the bigger and more powerful CR400 Crusher onto the demolition market.
Designed and built in their Suffolk factory with 90% of its components supplied from businesses within 80 km of the factory, the CR400 retains the compact design the CR300, measuring just 800 mm wide. The model also weighs less than 1,200 kg (1.2 t), making it easy transport.
Kocurek Excavators
PRODUCT: Lifting mode for multi demolition boom
Kocurek was approached by UK-based contractor Haywood Crushing & Demolition (HCD) to design and manufacture a demolition excavator with a range of front end equipment capabilities.
The company worked with LiuGong on HCD’s new 995 (95-t) base machine to deliver an excavator with a working range of 51 m high to -5 m deep, with maximum attachment weights of 10,000 kg (10 t) at 18 m, 8,000 kg (8 t) at 28 m and 3,000 kg (3 t) at 51 m.
