World Crane Transport Summit 2011 starts

The second World Crane Transport Summit 2011 got off to a fine start this morning in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
Over 300 industry professionals have gathered at Amsterdam's Hotel Krasnapolsky for the two day conference and tonight's networking dinner.
The bi-annual event offers presentations and debates on the key issues facing the worldwide crane and transport industry, with speakers including Joel Dandrea, Executive Vice President, Specialized Carriers & Rigging Association (SC&RA), and Christian-Jacques Vernazza, President and Chief Executive of Mediaco Vrac, and also President of the European Association for cranes and special transport (ESTA), and Vice President of UFL, the French association for cranes.
So far talks have centred on the world economy and the importance global partnerships to achieve common requirements in lifting and transport.
The EN13000 European standard governing rated capacity limiters was another major topic and it is apparent that the USA's demand for override keys to be included in the crane cab is gaining support worldwide.
In addition major Chinese manufacturers have been providing insights into their ambitions domestically and globally.
