Renewable lighting and power specialist Prolectric has completed a successful solar lighting trial with groundwork and concrete frame specialists Coinford, resulting in the supply of 10 bespoke ProRXM Solar Tower Lights.

For the last year the companies have developed a series of modifications to the standard setup of the Prolectric ProRXM Tower Light, which they said resulted in the creation of a bespoke product for Coinford’s site-specific requirements.

The ProRXM, a solar-only Tower Light specifically designed to remove the use of diesel tower lights in the construction industry, is part of Prolectric’s solar tower lighting portfolio.

It is equipped with three 270W solar panels that power four 60W LED floodlights mounted on a 6.2m, 360° pan motor rotatable hydraulic and telescopic mast.

It also comes with full GPS and telematics, alongside the Prolectric SmartRemote management portal and smart batteries.

By switching from diesel to solar powered lighting, Prolectric said Coinford is expected to save over 45,000 kgs of CO₂ per annum on the initial 10 ProRXM units, compared to most efficient diesel tower light.

Prolectric said the partnership will not only enable the company to lower its carbon footprint, but also reduce diesel costs and its reliance on fossil fuel consumption.

Chris Forrest, plant director, Coinford, said, “We are doing whatever we can to minimise our environmental impact and as such we constantly review our processes to work in a smarter and more sustainable way.

“Following our extensive engagement with the market to find a solution that was fit for purpose, a partnership developed with Prolectric which has enabled us to create a unique product and solution that matched our requirements and exceeded expectation.”

Kathryn Adams, commerical director, Prolectric, added, “Our collaboration with Coinford is a great working example of true partnership. As solar and battery off-grid experts, Prolectric is dedicated to assisting the construction and rental market in choosing lighting solutions to align with their sustainability initiatives and specific project needs.

“Increasingly, it is important to procure portable solar tower lights that align with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs); and this in itself requires a robust blend of expertise in renewable energy, sustainability, and construction equipment. We are delighted that we were able to offer the Coinford team the confidence they needed.”

The project is the first phase of a partnership agreement over the next 4 years.
