Next gen Cat 330 UHD excavator hits the market

The Cat 330 UHD is a 46-tonne machine with a 205 kW (275 hp) Cat C7.1 engine that meets the US Tier 4 Final, EU Stage V and Japan 2014 emission standards.

According to the manufacturer, the excavator’s next generation design allows it to better meet the demands of urban and city demolition and dismantling projects. 

Vincent Migeotte, Caterpillar senior product and sales consultant, said: We’re excited about the prospects for the Cat 330 UHD as a replacement of the 325C UHD. It has been more than 10 years since Caterpillar offered a model in this important segment.”

He added: “For operators working in tough demolition applications, where mobilisation, safety and productivity are vital, the 330 UHD will be a reliable and efficient next generation machine, compliant with all workplace safety standards, and offering an attractive return on investment.”

The machine features an ultra-high demolition boom with a maximum pin height of 20 m (65 ft 6 in) and a TOPS demolition-rated tilting cab, enabling it to easily work at five- and six-storey heights. 

It is available with either a Long Narrow or a Hydraulic Variable Gauge undercarriage for added stability and can accommodate a 3-tonne work tool.

In addition, Caterpillar says the model is “essentially two machines in one”, as it can also accept either a single or variable angle retrofit boom. It incorporates a hydraulic quick disconnect system for tool-free swapping of attachments and booms.

Technologies such as Cat Payload, Cat 2D E-Fence and Cat Grade are also included “to optimise its utilisation with the retrofit boom”. 

“Caterpillar built the 330 UHD to withstand difficult demolition of tall structures. Careful attention to detail has seen the 330 UHD designed to reach even the trickiest inner-city worksites,” said Vincent.

He added: “The machine is quickly and easily reconfigurable, allowing operators to extract maximum return from the machine by deploying it for general construction when not required for demolition contracts.”
