The European Demolition Association (EDA) has released its newest, and most long-awaited, guide: the Recyclable C&D Materials (Mineral Fraction)

A technical document, the guide provides in-depth information on everything from recycling concepts and regulations, to details on recyclable materials, procedures during demolition works, material storage and recycled product quality assurance and technical standards.

The EDA said: “This guide explains the steps for handling and recycling the materials obtained in demolition sites, as well as the preliminary tasks to carry out to ensure its success, such as the pre-demolition audit.”

Coordinated by Martin Car, the Secretary General of the Austrian National Association, BRV, the document also provides information on key recyclable materials, and guidance on decontamination and hazardous substances.

The EDA, which began working on the new guide shortly after publishing its Recycling Equipment for Construction and Demolition guide last year, said: “The circular economy is one of the most important topics in today’s landscape, and the construction sector is no exception.

“Since it produces almost a third of the waste generated in Europe, it is the responsibility of companies and professionals involved in the industry to find a sustainable solution to the problem.”

The Recycling C&D Materials guide, along with the association’s Construction and Circular Economy, is available for free consultation purposes, will be soon available for purchase in hard copy. For more information, visit: Recyclable C&D materials - Mineral Fraction - EDA (europeandemolition.org)
