The agenda, which covers 11 policy areas—including workforce development, tax policy, disaster response, procurement, Trade and infrastructure—serves as a resource for both Members of Congress and the Trump administration as they address national challenges.

NDA President James Milburn emphasised the industry’s commitment to economic growth, stating: “The demolition industry is deeply invested in America’s economic success and stands ready to partner with lawmakers and the new Administration to implement policies that drive economic prosperity. We look forward to working together to create meaningful demolition jobs now and in the future.”

In a letter sent to President Trump following his inauguration, the NDA outlined several industry priorities that it hopes the administration will address in the coming year.

President Trump has issued several executive orders that could impact the industry, including a review of US trade policy, requiring federal agencies to evaluate its effectiveness and report back by April 1, 2025.

While no immediate actions have been announced, the administration has also raised the possibility of new tariffs, including a 25% tariff on goods from Canada and Mexico and an additional 10% tariff on imports from China and other countries.

In a letter sent following his inauguration, the NDA outlined several priorities it hopes the administration will address in the coming year. The association has called for expedited federal infrastructure projects and consideration of the economic impact of tariffs on businesses and supply chains.

In its letter to President Trump, the NDA said: “NDA supports sensible trade policies that open markets and level the playing field globally for American companies.

“We urge you to cautiously weigh the costs and benefits of trade remedy actions against U.S. trade partners, including Canada, Mexico, China, and European Union member countries.”

It continues: “Our members utilize equipment and products procured both domestically and abroad, and any new tariffs levied by the federal government could have a significant economic impact on business operations and supply chains. We encourage your administration to pursue trade agreements with other countries that are fair and avoid unintended consequences that will harm the U.S. economy.”

The association also advocated for the renewal of tax incentives for small businesses, reforms to workforce development programmes and apprenticeship rules, and regulatory relief.

“Late last year, NDA was encouraged to see lawmakers from both parties come to an agreement on legislation to reauthorize the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) and reform federal workforce programs for the first time in a decade,” the letter states.

“While this legislation did not ultimately cross the finish line, the parameters of the agreement provide a solid foundation in which to build upon during the 2025 legislative session. We urge you to work with Congress to pass this legislation and secure a significant legislative victory for your administration.”

Reassuring its members, the NDA stated that it is closely monitoring regulatory and trade developments and will update its members accordingly.
