Commenting on its design of the grapples, Komatsu said its main areas of focus during the development phase were on reducing the maintenance costs and on ensuring on ensuring the attachments offered a long working lifespan.

As such, the grapples feature oversized pins and bushings, a double-walled main frame, and perforated Hardox shells.

Bastiaan Cassiman, Komatsu Europe’s Product Manager for Attachments, said: “Their heavy-duty design ensures that they hold up in even the toughest conditions.

“These grapples are designed to handle anything from primary and secondary demolition to recycling”.

Other key feature of the grapples include integrated mechanical end stops that protect the cylinder, and an oversized slewing ring with internally mounted hydraulic motors.

According to the manufacturer, the sorting and demolition grapples are just the first of a complete range of demolition attachments, which it will continue to introduce over the coming months.
