Kobelco Construction Machinery Europe (KCME) has launched the next-generation SK550DLC-11 ultra high reach demolition excavator.
The new excavator is fitted with a Stage V-compliant 300 kW six-cylinder diesel engine from manufacturer Hino and, when configured with the company’s Ultra long attachment arm, has an operating weight of 64 t (64,000 kg).
A replacement for the company’s SK550DLC-10 model, the SK550DLC-11 is said to deliver “increased engine performance, enhanced durability and improved operator comfort”.
Peter Stuijt, Kobelco Europe’s product marketing manager, said: “Kobelco has long been a leader in demolition equipment and the SK550DLC-11 offers customers the versatility and flexibility of being able to perform both high reach and foundation demolition work, all with the same machine.”
The new excavator, like the smaller SK350DLC and SK400DLC models, features Kobelco’s NEXT system that provides four ultra-long attachment configurations.
Described as being “ideal for demolition sites” that require a height of up to 25 m (82 ft), the system is designed for use with the manufacturer’s NEXT system attachments and enables the machine to reach up to 27.5 m (90 ft).
Peter said: “The NEXT system is a big selling point for this machine as it has been designed to save significant costs and time on the job site; attachments can be changed on-site in around 30 minutes, and the machine can be transported easily on a regular trailer.
“The SK550DLC-11 has also been reinforced to withstand some of the toughest demolition conditions. Like all Kobelco machines, the SK550DLC-11 is built to last.”
