Japanese demolition giants target overseas dismantling projects

Japanese transport, offshore and heavy lifting giant Denzai and demolition and engineering specialist Besterra are to establish a new demolition company specialising in the dismantling of overseas plants.

Described as a strategic move, the Tokyo-based companies recently signed a partnership agreement cementing the formation of the new business.
In a brief statement, Denzai said: “By combining Besterra’s unique engineering technologies (patents, know-how, etc.) and construction management capabilities for dismantling plant facilities with Denzai’s extensive lineup of equipment, such as ultra-large crawler cranes and special transportation equipment, as well as our procurement and planning capabilities and international mobility, we are developing a high-quality dismantling business for overseas plants together.”
Currently only known as the ‘Overseas Plant Dismantling Business’, no further details about the new company have so far been released, however, it is expected that it will look to “meet the demand for dismantling and renewal of plant” in Singapore as a priority, given Denzai’s existing operations in the country.
This latest news is just one of several big expansion announcements made by Denzai in recent months.
Just a few weeks ago it formed of a joint venture company in Algeria, for which its subsidiary Denzai Algeria partnered with the country’s biggest heavy lifting and transport specialist, Megalift, and last year Denzai also entered the US market.
Denzai America Inc was established in September 2023 in the US territory of Guam in the south Pacific, where it is currently helping to construct the Ukudu combined cycle power station.
