Dimaag, a US-based provider of electric solutions for electric vehicles (EVs), energy storage systems (ESS), and DC fast chargers, will incorporate its Electric No Compromise Off-Road Ecosystem (ENCORE) into Hitachi’s 1.7t class excavators, commonly used in urban construction and indoor demolition.

Hitachi will provide technical specifications for the base machine, while Dimaag will supply its electric technology, including high-power, swappable battery modules, thermal management systems, and EV motors.

ENCORE was first introduced at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2024 in Las Vegas.

The electrified excavator is expected to be completed in December 2024, with an official unveiling planned at the Bauma 2025 Trade Fair in Munich, Germany, in April 2025.

Hitachi says that it aims to launch the product in Europe by 2027.

Ian Wright, co-founder of Tesla and Vice President of Engineering at Dimaag, says, “Our ENCORE technology ensures no compromise on safety, performance, or affordability. Partnering with Hitachi marks a critical step toward electrifying agricultural and construction machinery.”
