Electric hammer manufacturer Lekatech sold

A minority shareholder in Lekatech since 2023, Normet has now acquired full ownership of the equipment manufacturer, as part an expansion strategy that is being driven by leveraging “mutally beneficial technologies”. 

Kari Hämäläinen, Executive Vice President, Strategic Business Development at Normet, said: “Lekatech’s revolutionary linear electric hammering technology further strengthens our resolve to lead the electric transformation in the industry.

“We are proud of what has been achieved at Lekatech and we now look forward to the next steps in the joint journey. We are excited to welcome Lekatech’s experts to Normet.”

Founded in 2018, Finnish company Lekatech is known for its patented linear electric hammering technology, which has given rise to construction work tools such as the LEKA Tores 35 electric hammer model - a product that has been shortlisted for a 2024 World Demolition Award.

While further details about Normet’s takeover, including the investmet value, have not been publicised by either company, Antti Anttila, CEO of Lekatech, said: “Normet enables us to expand and speed up the adoption of the electric hammering technology across industries on a global scale.

“Having collaborated with Normet for several years we have realised that there is a strong cultural fit and that we share the same values.”

The Pyhäsalmi mine in Finland, with its challenging conditions and nearly 1.5 km depth, provided the ideal testing ground for Lekatech’s innovative fully electric hammer, integrated into Normet’s Scamec LC Thor 095 A scaler.
