The Canadian association’s new Demolition Worker Certification Program (DWCP) was developed in partnership with the Labourers International Union of North America (LiUNA).

It is a worker training course that comprises three modules, focusing on the topics of safety, hazardous materials and abatements, and practical demolition tasks.

It aims to equip participants with fundamental knowledge and practical skills required by the industry and is delivered over the course of around 270 hours.

The OADC said: “This program was designed to provide participants with a detailed understanding of technical ability and emphasis will be placed on safety protocols, for this potentially dangerous craft.

“Successful participants will be able to utilize industry-specific tools, equipment, and techniques. They will also clearly gain comprehension for the relevant Provincial Regulations as they apply to this industry specifically, and furthermore construction in general. To achieve this, there will be a considerable number of practical activities offered.”
