Dealing with organics
14 October 2015
Doppstadt has added the AK560 Eco Power and AK560 Eco Power Plus shredders to its range of processing equipment that are designed to shred organic recyclables and wood waste, with serial production of both due to start in January 2016. They offer high capacities over short work times and consume less energy and fuel than the models they replace.
Power comes from a Stage IV/Tier 4 Final compliant Mercedes 6 R 1300 diesel that delivers 523 hp (390 kW) that achieves commpliance without the use of a diesel particulate filter. It achieves a high torque thanks to its electronic engine management system to run more quietly at significantly reduced fuel consumption, says Doppstadt. First the EcoPower shredders seize the material at the impact edge and then reduce it at a baffle plate equipped with Hardox teeth or with a replaceable cutter bar. The operator determines the final material structure and grain size by selection of the fine shredding basket in the discharge area of the shredding chamber. Baskets with a mesh size of 1-12 inch (30-400 mm) mesh size are available for different materials and shredding structures that can be quickly replaced without the need for tools.
“These mobile machines are designed for continuous operation in the field of recycling,” product manager Thomas Diekmann explained. “With their high throughput capacity and load-sensing material infeed they are suited for waste wood, wooden pallets, green waste, logs, root timber, bio-waste and refuse-derived fuels. The AK 560 can be adjusted very quickly to various requirements on site.”
