Caterpillar launches 30-tonne MH3032 material handler

Caterpillar has expanded its range of Next Generation material handlers with the launch of the MH3032.
Positioned between the existing MH3026 and MH3040 models, the MH3032 is built around a 30-tonne operating weight and includes a reach of nearly 15 m.
The machine, which is currently on display at Bauma Munich, is available with drop-nose and straight-stick configurations and supports attachments such as a standard Cat orange-peel grapple with a 1 cu m capacity. A 20 kW generator option is also available to power magnet attachments.
“The essential principle of our next gen architecture [is] keeping control over operating costs, without sacrificing performance,” said Vincent Migeotte, Caterpillar senior product and sales consultant. “It’s those parameters that come to the forefront in the MH3032.”
Standard features on the MH3032 include Cat Payload, which displays the weight of each load, and Cat 2D E-fence, which keeps the working arm within a defined area to avoid contact with the elevated cab. A new Swing Assist function stops the upper structure at operator-defined preset points.
“Technologies like these not only help reduce the operator fatigue associated with repetitive tasks but also help improve site safety,” Migeotte added. “Optimised movements also mean incremental improvements to time and fuel consumption.”
The cab includes a monitor that displays dual external camera views. The MH3032 is powered by a Cat C7.1 engine meeting various emissions standards depending on region, and is equipped with long-life filters and fewer hoses to allow for extended maintenance intervals.
“By meeting the demands of the 30 MT size class head-on, the MH3032 should prove a popular selection in the all-important material handling sector,” Migeotte said.
The MH3032 uses components already deployed across Caterpillar’s MH3000 Next Generation range. Caterpillar began producing material handlers in 1998 and currently manufactures eight models at facilities worldwide.
