Brokk launches ‘world’s biggest’ demo robot

Swedish remote-controlled demolition machine specialist Brokk has launched the new Brokk 900 demolition robot, which it claims the largest and most powerful in the world.

Offering around 25% more power, the manufacturer said the new Tier 4/Stage V compliant model “builds upon and improves on” its previous Brokk 800 model.

Unlike its predecessor, which was first released ten years ago, the Brokk 900 has new, robust design and features the company’s SmartPower technology for improved powertrain operation and a longer runtime.

Martin Krupicka, CEO of Brokk, said: “All in all, the new Brokk 900 represents what we are known for. More power in a compact and smart package. And that stays true even for our biggest demolition robot.”

The model is available as the standard Brokk 900 model with hydraulic hammer and the Brokk 900 Rotoboom, which includes a 360-degree continuous rotating boom system for enhanced precision.

Designed for the “extreme requirements” of underground work, both versions of the machine can be equipped with either a diesel or electric powertrain.

According to the manufacturer, the standard Brokk 900 can be equipped with either a 1500 kg breaker for demolishing harder material, or the BHB 1300 breaker model. The BHB 1300, which is slightly lighter, offers a higher blow frequency for improved productivity.

While the Brokk 900 has been engineered to provide optimum power and productivity, its sister machine is designed for “maximum flexibility on projects where access and precision are more important than power”.

The Brokk 900 Rotoboom is equipped with heat protection for red-hot refractory work in metal plants and includes Brokk’s heat-shielded hydraulic breaker.
