A total of 29 companies have secured places on a new £1.1 billion (US$1.35 billion) demolition and land preparation procurement framework in the United Kingdom.

The contractors, which include Keltbray, Vinci Construction, Armac Demolition, Cawarden Demolition and McCormack Site Services (see full list below), were appointed to the four-year demolition services framework by national provider Pagabo.

The framework is the first dedicated demolition services framework the procurement company has offered, and is designed “to provide clients with confidence that the demolition organisations they engage with are monitored and audited”.

It was brought forward on behalf of Rugby Borough Council and consists of five value band lots and nine project types.

Core and reserve supplies appointed to it will provide services to such as structure demolition, ground improvement, industrial dismantling and non-traditionally constructed high-rise demolition works.

In addition to covering projects for the National Health Service (NHS) and central government, the framework also covers works for the public utilities, education, housing, prison, and highways infrastructure sectors.

Jason Stapley, managing director at Pagabo, said: “We’ve been overwhelmed by the response we had to the tender process for this framework and are really pleased to be bringing a unique and compliant procurement route to demolition services to the market with such a strong set of companies.

“There is a huge focus on the environmental impact that construction projects can have, and so demolishing old buildings with a negative impact and redeveloping brownfield land is becoming increasingly important for development schemes. But with these approaches come a whole host of challenges that require specialist services.”

Jason added: “This framework will ensure that clients can access those specialist services from the firms best placed to support, providing any scheme with the best start possible before redevelopment – and doing so in the most compliant and efficient manner possible in the market.”

According to the procurement specialist, its “rigorous, PCR2015 compliant tender process” required applicants to prove both their “financial suitability and related experience”, and all the suppliers appointed to the framework are members of the National Federation of Demolition Contractors.
