LEKATECH
COUNTRY: Finland
INNOVATION: LEKA Toras 35 - Electric Hammer
The Lekatech Electric Hammer LEKA Toras 35 is powered by new and patented linear electric motor technology, which the OEM says is being developed to revolutionise the impact hammer market.
The Toras 35 is designed and built to be highly efficient and has a power to weight ratio similar to that of traditionally powered hammers.
Furthermore, it is coming to market at the same time as electric powered carriers and is thus a natural partner for electric powered equipment.
The model is 70% more energy efficient than hydraulic hammers, offers twice the blow impact energy compared to traditional hydraulic hammers and a 98% reduction in oil consumption.
LekaTech says: “The LEKA Toras 35 is a major advance in hammer design and construction.
“Of light weight, delivering high power but producing low vibrations, it is built for operator comfort, economic use and high productivity.
“Electrically powered with low emissions and operating costs, the Electric Hammer is set to transform breaking in quarries, mines, demolition, and construction sites globally.”
OPEN-S ALLIANCE
COUNTRY: Sweden
INNOVATION: Open-S Common Standard
To bridge the gap of incompatibility in the industry and to make life easier for the end user and for retailers, all over the world, the Open-S system is a common standard for excavator attachments, tiltrotators and quick couplers that is based on the Symmetrical Quick Coupler standard.
With the Open-S standard, fully automatic quick couplers from different manufacturers can be compatible with each other.
Meaning that contractors can choose and combine quick couplers, work tools from manufacturers that comply with this standard.
The Open-S standard is maintained and further developed by a technical committee made up of engineers from Open-S Alliance members.
The Open-S Alliance says: “Creating a universal standard is complex, requiring competitors to agree on product standardization and design changes.
Despite these challenges, the Open-S organisation has dedicated several years to this effort. The initiative is now showing substantial benefits globally, with more members joining.”
The Open-S initiative has gained significant traction and recognition, highlighted by winning the Innovation Award at Intermat 2024. Open-S envisions a future where excavators can freely share work tools across job sites, fostering healthy competition, innovation, and broad-based industry improvements.
ROTAR
COUNTRY: Netherlands
INNOVATION: X-series of RSS Mobile Scrap Shears
X, representing X-treme, introduces several new scrap shear models to the RSS range, responding to demand from both the Demolition and Scrap Processing Industries.
Rotar’s X-series comprises the the RSS10 X, RSS20 X, RSS100 X and the RSS150 X models, which are designed to withstand high operating pressures of up to 380 bar (5500 PSI). The shear design has evolved to give more body strength, coupled with a new pivot group design that improves jaw alignment. This improvement enables the shear to handle higher cutting forces.
Additionally, the nose blades incorporate a unique design, to keep them firmly in position during operation. Rotar says: “These innovative design features mean that the Rotar X-series of shears perform above and beyond any others available on the market today.”
The whole X-series journey began with the RSS 100 X model. In addition to all the above features, Rotar has incorporated a larger cylinder, and the model’s rotation drive is reinforced and equipped with double gearboxes and motors for enhanced positioning. Combined with a favorable center of gravity this configuration prevents the shear from drifting during rotation.
