Intermat debut for Ammann electric mini excavator
06 February 2024
Ammann will show its new 1.5t electric mini excavator at Intermat in April – the first time the machine has been displayed at a major trade show.
Launched last September, the eAMX 15 uses a 21.5 kW lithium ion battery and will operate for up to eight hours on a charge. It can be 100% recharged in 10 hours using a standard charger, or up to 80% in one hour with a fast charger.
The chassis and blade are 1050mm wide, but can be retracted to a width of 790 mm, and total height is 2300 mm.
The 1.5t model fits into Ammann’s existing range of 22 excavators in the 1.2t to 10t range, and between its conventionally powered 1.4t and 1.8t minis.
Ammann said a second electric mini, a 2.5t machine, will be launched in September this year.
A spokesperson for Ammann told International Rental News (IRN) that the focus on these models will be the French market, particularly for inner city sites and for indoor demolition work.
The company said it was taking a step-by-step approach to introducing the electric machines, seeing how they are used in practice on site and assessing issues such as charging. It has still to decide when the electric minis will be made available outside of France.
The company will have between 20 and 25 machines on its Intermat stand and is returning to the show having missed the event in 2018.
The spokesperson said Intermat would attract a lot of visitors from France and Southern Europe as well as North Africa; “We are sure that these customers will come to Intermat. As they come back, we want to be there.”
