Bobcat to unveil new 1 to 2-tonne mini excavators

Bobcat will debut its latest 1 to 2-tonne mini excavators and an upgraded version of its E88 mini excavator at Bauma 2025, with the new models set to enter the European, Middle Eastern, and African (EMEA) markets later this year.

According to Robert Husar, Product Line Director for Bobcat in EMEA, the new mini excavators build on the previous generation, which has sold over 34,000 units.

“After three years of development, the new models, featuring over 500 new components, will be available in the European, Middle Eastern and African (EMEA) markets later this year,” he said.

“A team of more than 50 engineers and designers have worked on the new designs, with over 80 customer visits to collect the scope, with ride and drive sessions with operators to validate prototypes, forming part of over 20,000 hours of testing and validation work.”

The new models comprise the E16, E17z, E19, and E20z mini excavators, which all include features that Bobcat says are “typically reserved for larger excavators”, such as a load-sensing hydraulic system.

Additionally, “the brand-new hydraulic system allows operators to smoothly operate multiple functions simultaneously,” said Husar.

“Even when operating attachments that demand substantial hydraulic power, such as a flail mower, operators can now seamlessly perform multiple functions simultaneously. This includes driving, slewing and lifting with smooth precision.”

Bobcat will also present an updated version of its E88 9-tonnr mini excavator. “Complementing the changes at the smaller end of our mini excavator range, we will be showing a new enhanced version of our top-of-the-range E88 9-t mini excavator, offering enhanced operator comfort, an improved fit and finish, additional standard features and the availability of multiple predefined configurations,” Husar said.

The machine includes the Fritzmeier cab, also used on Bobcat’s E60 6-t mini excavator, which Bobcat says improves window and windscreen operation, reduces noise and vibrations, and includes additional standard features and options.

Bobcat will also showcase concept and electric machines, including the TL25.60e electric telehandler, the all-electric T7X and S7X compact loaders, and the E10e and E19e electric mini excavators.

The company will present its RogueX2 autonomous compact loader and the S7X, which it describes as the world’s first all-electric skid-steer loader. Both remain in the research and development phase.

Bauma 2025 takes place in Munich, Germany, from April 7-13.
