Technology drives efficiency for demolition company

A United Kingdom-based business, whose services include demolition and remediation, has invested in additional technology systems for its growing fleet because of the greater site efficiency machine control it is said to offer.
The Sirius Group, which has principal offices in Durham, Leeds, and Warrington, began fitting its machines with Sitech Trimble technology more than a decade ago, after realising how GPS (global positioning systems) could save time, fuel, manpower and improves quality and safety on site.
It now uses the technology in site surveys and on its earthmoving fleet of more than 130 machines.
Plant director Stuart Kirk said: “We’ve just taken delivery of 15 new Kobelco machines which are all fitted with Sitech Trimble technology because machine control helps us to make efficiencies in all areas.
“There’s less supervision needed, operators can see exactly where they are on site, what depth they’re digging to and can refer to the plans so they can be confident they’re doing the job right first time so they’re not tracking about using fuel or increasing wear and tear on the machine.
Over the past 12 months the company has spent around £400,000 (US$470,000) on Sitech Trimble technology.
Stuart added: “Thanks to Brent Taylor at SITECH our team of three scrapers are also up and running with Trimble technology after he was able to create harnesses for them for us, and we’ll continue to invest in future technology. Next for us is Works Manager, drone surveying and seeing what Trimble brings next at Dimensions 2022.”
