Brokk reveals next-gen demolition robots

Brokk has launched a new generation of demolition of robots, unveiling the SmartPower+ range at the 2024 World of Concrete exhibition, currently taking place in Las Vegas, Nevada, US.
Comprising five models in total, Brokk’s SmartPower+ machines are said to offer increased durability, more uptime and greater operational control.

Standout features of the Brokk 300+, 500+, 70+, 170+ and 200+ SmartPower machines include a re-engineered body and components that have resulted in 87% fewer cables and connectors.
According to the Sweden-based manufacturer, which is displaying its 170+ and 200+ models at World of Concrete, this means the SmartPower+ robots benefit from fewer weak points, easier servicing and a longer lifespan.
“Brokk’s SmartPower+ generation is much smarter too,” said the manufacturer, “alerting the operator about any unwanted power supply or machine statuses, further contributing to an increase in uptime and overall reliability.”
Brokk has also reinvigorated how the demolition robots operate, by introducing a new lightweight control box that can be recharged faster than the company’s previous generation of control box units.
Weighing less than 3 kg (6.5 lbs), the SmartPower+ control box has been ergonomically designed, with intuitive, easier-to-reach features, simple settings and a tilted joystick, which together make it easier to operate.
Brokk said: “This new generation of robots elevates the operator-machine interaction, focusing on added intelligence for the benefit of the operator.
“Visual status updates through incremental light indicators allow the operator to focus their attention on the demolition work at hand while simultaneously monitoring the status of the machine.
“A two-way communication system communicates the status back to the operator in real time, while customized features enhance the operating experience.”
