Cimic Group JV to construct US$500 million crusher

A joint venture (JV) between Cimic Group companies CPB Contractors and Sedgman will take on the Western Ridge Crusher Project for Australian mining company BHP for the amount of AUS$757 million (US$504 million).
The scheme involves end-to-end work on the design and construction of a 30-million tonnes-per-annum primary mining crusher at BHP’s site in the country’s Pilbara region, approximately 21km (13 miles) southwest of Newman, Western Australia.
The JV will also collaborate to build a 12km 7.5 mile) overland conveyer, radial stacker, and associated stockpiling systems.
Engineering, design, and procurement for the project took place over the last 12 months, with Cimic Group expecting construction commencement at the end of this month.
Construction is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2027.
