Edge Innovate gives workers four-day week

The change became effective in August, with workers at the company’s premises in Dungannon, Northern Ireland, remaining on the same pay under the new working arrangements.

Edge said it is the first manufacturing company in the region to offer staff a four-day work pattern.

“Business consultants will tell you that a business cannot just be innovative in product development but that innovation should run right through the business,” said managing director Daragh Cullen.

“They are right. We have taken this decision in conjunction with our team and have been trialling this idea across our cutting, welding, painting and final assembly departments.

“The four-day work pattern will provide a better work life balance for all our team members, increasing productivity while offering an improved service to our worldwide partners and customers”.

Despite the Covid-19 pandemic, Edge reports a growing worldwide demand for its products. At the start of this year, it opened a 3,483 sq m (37,500 sq ft) factory, increasing production capacity by up to 30%.
